Great Little Get-away

Here for a long weekend in my 33 ft TT toyhauler. Lots of space between all sites. All sites are wooded which is great for us right in the middle of a heat wave. Most sites share water hookup but mine happened to be pretty far from any but ok as I came with a full fresh water tank. Thought would be really buggy in this area this time of year but not. Fishing, hiking, and canoeing...even Putt-Putt. Brand new well kept bathrooms and showers. Staff has been friendly.

Good Spot

We stayed first week of October 2019. It has the youth summer camp feel. We stayed two nights and wish we could’ve stayed a week. I’m sure it was extra quiet because the summer season was over. Customer service was good. Park was very quiet at night. There are no sewer hook ups. There is water and a dump station as you leave, so the sewer wasn’t an issue. There were showers and bathrooms and a laundromat that were well kept. Very happy with the value of the product.I will definitely come again if in the area. The spot fills up first on the weekends. Wife review: I was hesitant with all the tick talk. I only saw one in two days. (In bathhouse) Area was very clean. The rangers do patrol area, but they are very helpful and I didn’t get any negative feedback from them. They do make it feel more safe. RV camping area is gated area. Strict no later than 6 PM check-in. RV parking lots are not drive thru, but back into. Parking is tight if crowded.

Nice Quiet And Spacious Campground

Good sized sites with gravel, tables and fire rings. Water spigots every 3rd or 4th site. Restrooms adequate, with fans, soap and paper towel. Dump station near gates into campground, which is keypad entry. Trees everywhere. Lots of hikes and horse trails.

Never Again

We are full time and stay in many places. This micro- Park is micro-managed. Sites are crammed too close especially on holiday weekends. It is set up for tent camping, not so much RVs. Drainage is miserable following rain. The police presence is about as thick as the tick population there. If you plan to use any amenities, expect to get yelled at or lectured by the rangers. 30amp power is the only source available. Bring a Y-adapter for water or fill your tank before arriving. You can't throw recyclables in the dumpster but no recycling dumpster is available. And it's against the rules to burn anything other than wood. The city really needs to look into this place to see how rigid it is being Run. Sucks the life out of fun. But, I felt safe in my campsite, saw the clean bathrooms, found little firewood lying around, was an excellent food source for ticks, could see more than I wanted of my neighbors, and saw how some of the paying guests were treated.

We stayed for two nights back in September. I actually grew up in VA Beach. My parents would take us camping, fishing and paddle boating here. Can't believe I forgot about this park. There was plenty of room to maneuver my RV. We had a pull through spot that was easy to get into. I suggest you pick a spot that is close to a water spigot. We ended up moving to another spot so we could hook up to water. You must have a splitter in order to leave your hose hooked up. This place is very family oriented with plenty to do. The staff is nice and helpful. We will definitely come back again.
