We stayed there in July 2024. We were with our camper group and made reservations 5 months in advance to be camped together but they didn’t have us together and wouldn’t do anything to rectify it. I was put in a site that was so unlevel that I had to use risers on my front tire. We are experienced RVer ,25 years. We have camped in almost all the states and across Canada. If they charged us $30 or $40 I would say okay but $120 a night!! I checked the average hotel costs for the area, $80 to $100. We will not be back.

A very clean and quiet KOA. Many sites on the week ends are local families coming to fish and relax. Kids all around us and they love the ponds and a nice running creek that we saw many paddled in or floated in tubes. The pool is not open. Laundry room in working order and bathrooms are kept clean. We used this spot as a reasonably priced visit to Asheville. It was perfect. Sites are all level gravel.

3 Night Stay
We stayed in A40, midweek. Pros: There are two big lakes for fishing. The campground is mostly flat for walking/biking. Pool. A stream that runs through the campground. Game room for the kids. Excellent wifi. 4/5 bars for Verizon signal. Fenced dog area. Basketball hoops. Playground. Garbage pickup at your site. Cons: Sites are on the small side. The campground is across from train tracks so you can hear the passing trains horn. Low water pressure (my regulator read 30psi). Overall, we will come back. Its more on the expensive side for us as far as reservations but its a KOA, it is what it is. We enjoyed having the option of playing in the pool or the stream in summer. You're in the mountains so temperatures are fairly tame as compared to the flatlands. If you stay here, I dont believe you will be disappointed.

Nice Outdoor Areas. Park Manager Rude
Yes this place has a lot of beautiful scenery with the river and the lake. It is and can be very very crowded at times but we’ve always enjoyed it with the exception of the outdoor manager a very obnoxious rude fella. Never have i had a KOA. Campground allow people to be so hateful. Too many other choices in these mountains. Going to take my vacation dollars where we can have fun not meanness.

We Won’t Be Back
Sites are packed in like sardines. Our table was basically sitting on the sewer line next door. You have a highway, then a train track and then the interstate so the noise level is rough. I will say that the dog walking area by the river and around the lake was nice but it doesn’t make up for the campsites and noise level. I can’t believe they charge $55 a night.

Our Go-to Place
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, this place has been a welcome relief. We have been fortunate to stay twice right on the middle lake with the lake right outside our door step facing broadside. On the other side of the road is the wide shallow river which runs through the park where you see lots of tubing and swimming. The water is cold even in mid-summer. We bring our kayaks for paddling in the lake where many people fish from the bank. The grounds staff has been exceptional. Never have they refused to help and upon arrival will lead you to your site and help you with parking your RV. My wife and I love the place but I talked to others who felt the sites were a little too close together. We seldom used the bathhouses but the one closest to us had been updated. Lots of room to walk the dogs and let them get in the river.

Surly Staff Makes This Park A Once Only
The park itself is nice, in spite of a lot of construction going on while we were there; but, the staff are some of the most unfriendly we have ever encountered in a KOA. Ordinarily, KOAs can be relied upon to have super friendly and hospitable staff members. This is an exception. From the grounds crew to the store staff to the guy who stole our wood... This staff seems unhappy and they don't mind letting you know it. With so much competition in the area, smiles and courtesy are a cheap way to ensure repeat clients. Oh well, we won't be seeing you again!

Rainy Overnight Stop
We had a gravel pull through site. It was long enough for our 32' Class C and we could leave our tow car hooked up. We faced the storage lot. The grass was cut and the water from all the rain drained well. The work camping staff was curtious, helpful and friendly. Yes, it is close to a RR track. But it did not bother us. We would stay again, if we were in the area.

Train So Close You Can Almost Touch It
No more than a two star park. Sites very small. Hard to back a 30 foot trailer into most of the river sites. Sites muddy. Fire rings are a joke. If I would have used my fire pit I would have caught the adjacent campers awning on fire. Staff at desk was moderately friendly except when I checked in she had a 5 minute conversation with a co-worker before acknowledging our presence. Old dude who escorted us to our site in the golf cart was grumpy and unfriendly. He got upset because I did not start my trailer backup when “he” wanted me to...I told him to pound sand and that I was okay without his direction- he rode off on his little cart without a word.

KOA East
Nice campground with friendly and helpful staff. If you have a large camper it is hard to get in and out of your spot especially when it gets full.

Quiet, Serene
Beautiful campground, simple and quiet. Easy access off interstate. Grounds well maintained, staff were friendly and prompt when requesting services. Stayed in a fifth wheel with our own showering/restrooms so I can’t say how clean restrooms were as a fellow camper had complaints. Otherwise, I would definitely stay again.

Yes...it gets that way
We stayed at the Ashville KOA and this park does have some great amenities, however, cleanliness is not a priority here. The womens restrooms needed a great amount of attention. I brought this to the attention of a park manager who replied "yes, it gets that way." She continued to explain that the cleaning crew came from 1 to 2 pm. I returned to the restroom at 2:30 pm only to discover the restroom had not been cleaned...nor had it been cleaned at 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30. Now I am not a clean freak but it was obvious that this restroom had not been cleaned or sanatized in a very long time. Sorry to say ..we will not stay here again. I hope the standards here do not represent those at all KOA's. I gave this park 1 star only because it was required to submit a review.

Very nice campgrounds, well kept, two lakes to walk around and staff very friendly. The only downfall a train that comes through all times of the day and night blowing his horn. Hard to sleep at night!!!
