Nice Area Close To Chicago
We stayed at Bong for a week in the 200 loop of the Sunrise campground in a pop up in October. There are 3 loops in Sunrise. 1 loop with electric and the other 2 loops a mix of non-electic and tent sites. Some sites are reservable online. Most sites are narrow with your fire pit and table behind the camping pad rather than across from your front door. Most sites were full sun. Potable water is available at the dump station, however the dump station was closed when we were there, so a second location was available on one of the non-electic loops. There are 2 bathhouses in the Sunrise campground as well as pit toilets. Bathhouses were nice and well maintained. The day-use, recreation area offers hiking, fishing, a swimming beach, atv/utv/ohm trails, dog training, model airplane, rocketry and falconry sites. Hunting is also allowed so you can be awakened by volleys of gunfire in the morning. Overall, Bong is a really nice campground close to both Milwaukee and Chicagoland.
