We booked this place months in advance because we are boaters and there is a boat ramp. When we got there the boat ramp was hundreds of feet from the low water level and we got desperately stuck in the mud trying to launch the boat. It was a very nice park and we would have enjoyed our 2 week planned stay but no way on the terrible “boat ramp” situation. We had to go on down the road

Pull Through Pit Fall
Overall this is a great park for trails, wildlife and fishing. We saw lots of birds including road runners ( a thrill for this northerner), green jays, white pelicans, crested cara caras, cardinals, and many more. We heard coyotes at night. We also saw collared peccaries and a bob cat. The one thing we had trouble with were the pull through sites in the full hook up loop. We had just a few left overs to pick from and they were canted so that it was really hard for us to level. It looked like most of the occupied sites were canted the same way. We tried two other sites before going to a diff loop with just w/e. Site 118 has a nice view of the Reservoir especially when you’re hiked up in the air. 2 bars on my AT&T inside the rig but down at our fire ring, my phone noted we were in Mexico and wouldn’t let me do much. Kind of funny. The showers are a little small but ok

Excellent Texas State Park camping facility! It is our second time here in a month! We are birders, and this place does not disappoint. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. One could not ask for more.
