A Jewel By The River

We just happened across this campground after the campground in Mill City was closed due to fire history. They take reservations but we got a beautiful spot across from the river with partial shade (site 9). Sites 16, 18-23 are overlooking the Santiam River. This river is swift, but upstream is a calmer area for floating. The local rafting company stages out of this campground, for pick up and return from a day of white water rafting. Only a few sites with water only, but The facilities (restrooms and showers)are nice and clean, there's a lot of grass, a volleyball court, playground, picnic area, but does not feel crowded as the sites are fairly large and you can hear the constant flow of the river. Hiking trails nearby and Silver Falls State Park is a 30 min. drive away for a full day of hiking around and behind waterfalls!
