Nice Campground
We were only here for one night, but we will return. Nice campground, however tight for 30’ and over. Quiet and peaceful.

Hidden Gem!
At just over 30 sites, Fort Hamby is considerably smaller and more intimate than the two neighboring USACE campgrounds. Sites are shaded and well spaced, atmosphere is laid back and quiet. Bathhouses are nice and modern enough, and well kept. Attendants were working hard on Sunday morning to clean and restock. Not really any water views or access besides the swim beach and boat ramp, which are not walking distance from the camping area, but a very nice place to spend a relaxing weekend... or more. Easy access to town, quick, easy trip from Mount Airy, Winston, Charlotte, and Boone. Highly recommend.

Kerr Reservoir
Well maintained campground and similar to other Army Corp sites. Tight turns, steep hills might be tough for longer tows or big rigs, but it’s to be expected in the foothills of the Appalachians. Bushwhacker Falls trails was great easy hike for our small kids with a very sweet, small waterfall at the end. Swim beach was very small with lots of rocks and both the beach and playground were not walking distance from the campsites. Showers were okay, but as dirty as expected after a weekend of use near a water/beach area open to the public. Nice playground for the kids.
