Park Needs Maintenance
Caballo Lake State Park is an annual stop for us, but the last two times have been a little disappointing. The park is still a beautiful vista view of the lake and easy access to the lake. My gripe is with the dump station.
The past couple of times, the right side dump was blocked and unusable. On this week's trip, there was no water available for flush out or for potable refill. It must have been turned off for some reason. As long as you're aware and have some jugs of water pre filled to help flush out the blackwater tank.
To exasperate the issue. This dump station is also used by the Percha Dam park and Riverside Park.

Most Beautiful Sunrise
This campground is easy to access, has level sites, nice shelters and nice at night; quiet and dark. It had the most beautiful Easter morning sunrise.

Nice Quiet Getaway
We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay here. Quiet, peaceful. The sandhill cranes coming and going (December) were fun to watch. Beautiful views. We tow a Jeep Wrangler and got directions from the ranger volunteer on site in how to get to the east side of the lake. Made for a fun day of 4-wheeling in mining country. Definitely coming back.

Serene
Extremely well maintained park. A true credit to New Mexico State Parks Department.
Spots may be reserved on line on a “same day” basis.
We had a problem with one of our slide outs and the park recommended O’Neill’s RV Repair in Elephant Butte.... highly recommended their service if you need RV help in the T & C area!

Wonderfull Weekend
Stayed at the Appaloosa campground for the weekend, beautiful, quiet, the restrooms and showers were clean. Family enjoyed their time here. This is our second time here and will definitely come again. The Caballo Lake State Park is a wonderful place to come and visit, a real gem!

High Desert At It's Finest
This is a great place to stay. Easy access from the highway. They have 30/50 amp and water at sites. 30 amp first come first served, however 50 amp is by reservation. Dump station available on site. Great staff, clean bathrooms. Will definitely come back.

Staying here for a couple days in the Appaloosa campground. Nice, well kept and quiet. Bathhouse with showers are clean. Electric/water at each site in this area. Tmobile cell service is decent. Weather not too bad for a February trip, sunny and in the 60’s. Much nicer than in the heat of the summer.
