Great For Fall Camping

I read other reviews saying the sites were really close together. We didn't experience that at all, in site 29, but I also checked the dimensions of the sites we were interested in before booking. The one issue with site 29, and probably the site directly across from us, is that you're next to a culvert and there is a fence on either side of the road which makes backing in slightly more tricky (easy enough to maneuver with our 27 ft trailer). Since I saw reviews saying the bathrooms were closed, I called the campground to inquire which ones were open. I was told the one closest to site 29 was closed, but when we arrived it was.open and fully operational (and very clean). We thought the campground was beautiful, with the fall colors, and enjoyed the views of the lake and tress from the beach which was a very short walk from our site. There were a ton of dogs at the campground, and they all seemed to be well behaved. We hardly heard any barking. We would stay here again.

Burt Lake State Park

The sites were close, but it is a state park. This is a must for dog owners, as the dogs have their own beach! We rented a pontoon from Howes Marina and took the dogs to the sand bar - they loved it! Lots of things to do!

If you like camping within 3ft-6ft from your neighbor, this is the campground for you. Sites are very small (we are on 224) and offer ZERO privacy. Bathroom is very clean and they flush. Not somewhere I’d come again. Sandy like soil, so a bit uneven to set up on but if you have levelers it’s ok.

Very Nice

During our Circle Tour we stayed at Burt Lake State Park for 3 nights. We wish we could have stayed longer, lots to see but the locals have the campground all booked up. We are learning, at least at all of the Michigan State Campgrounds we've visited so far, it is becoming increasingly difficult to be retired and just 'winging it' with an RV during the Summer. We have limited internet on our phone plan, therefore, the online reservations ($10 fee for this service) is not an option. The toll fee hotline also charges the same fee. As a Non-Resident, we paid $32 for the Passport that we virtually cannot use because all State Park Campgrounds are full during the Summer. We are forced to stay at privately owned campgrounds and pay higher prices. Michigan wants our tourist dollars but we have to struggle to get a site. Lots of empty land within these parks, how about adding more sites? Won't be visiting the beautiful state of Michigan again in an RV, just not worth the aggravation.

$10 to get a Michigan pass to get in the park. 18 for electric only spot. No senior discounts. My site flat and paved but most were not. Very crowded and not very clean including dog poop litter. Tall trees, some roads rough. Large well used beach. Middle of the week and everything full with lots of kids and bikes. Ok showers and short line to get in. Beautiful area but nature unavailable

Beautiful Lake And Channel

The first two loops by the lake are the best. When you get on the far back section it is dirt and smaller sites. Indian river is a cute town with a putt putt golf right across the street of the entrance. Ice cream, restaurants, and small shops are all there too. Take your boat and go through the channel.
