Great little county park off the 80 east of Des Moines. Quiet. Electric only but I am only here for night so on with me.

Perfect Overnight Spot For Us

Just needed a quick and easy overnight spot off I-80. This more than fit the bill. Easy online reservation and good maps downloaded from their site. Very simple wooded campground with all back in sites. Easy for our 24'. We were in Site 21. Electric hookup.

Smoke So Thick U Can Cut It With A Knife

Campsites are very close together. The air from camp fires is absolutely choking. Showers are tepid. The only reason I gave 2 stars is for the nice trail.

Beautiful Natural

Quiet and clean but limited number of sites. Located in a wooded area with lots of birds. You can book well in advance on Iowa state park website. With senior discount (over 62) it was only 15 per night. 30 and 50 amp sites. Located on a good paved road and main road paved throughout park. Sites are large, rock level pads. Only one place for water and trash. No internet or cable hookups but good reception of tv station. One dump station. Fire pits at every site. Safe - ranger and local police come through regularly. Hosts are friendly and helpful. We did not get in the shower house as it was closed due to Covid. Adjoining park has large, nice playground and shelter house.
