Not For Big Rigs

It's not if you are going to hit anything but choosing what to hit. They don't seem to have a set of clippers to maintain the vastly overgrown park. Took three sites to get us into a level one. Roads are very tight. Please guys in charge: level the parking spots or designate that it is not suitable for particular RVs. Cut back shrubbery and low hanging stuff. It's called maintenance. Our RVs may cost us as much as your house. We don't like damage to it that can easily be avoided. Someone with a passion needs to take over this park.

Jurassic Campground

We camped here for a week. I liked having full hook ups, however, the sewer connection is on its side, not easy to dump. It’s close to the beach. No one enforcing rules. We found lots of great places to eat in town. It’s also a very tight place to navigate, two people had to move their trucks for me to back into our site. We hiked two trails that were nice. Give it a try yourself.

Tree Damagedcamper

Stayed in the camp ground for 3 nights. There is a lot of vegetation growing around the campgrounds. Large trees are suffering from lack of nutrients. Camp ground next to us had large oak tree split and land on their camper and pick up totaling both. No one as in the vehicle or camper so no injuries. These campers are full timer. I wish them luck and hope they recover.

Narrow Roads

Roads are very narrow for the campgrounds. And if it says that the site isn't level, expect it to be a hill.

Beware

When you come in I 95 or I 10, use the 295 bypass, do not use Arlington Hwy. There are several low under passes. Now, the park is similar to most Fl state parks, tight for big rigs, and old bathrooms. Short bike ride to beach and lake. Has bike and hiking trails.

Loved It

We stayed one night as it was a pass through to our other destinations, but I wish we could have stayed longer. Our site was in the 286, which was near the showers, restrooms, and walking distance to the camp store and beach. Our lot felt so cozy and very jungle like. Surrounded by trees. Normally we wake up to blazing sun light but under the canopy it stayed dark and cool in the morning. The beach was great, large sand dunes. My kids had a great time. Our site had a fire ring and picnic table. We had neighbors on each side but not on top of us. We hope to come back and visit and stay longer next time.

Bike rides in the jungle

Paid $34 a night for 3 nights. Full hookups (50amp, water, sewer). Stay in a very large pull-through site 99 in the middle of the campground. We spent the past couple months camping in Florida and this was by far one of our favorite campgrounds. It had a true jungle vibe that felt like we were deep in the middle of the forest. But then we could hop on our bikes and we were out on a beautiful beach in just a few minutes. The minor issues we had (and the reason for docking a star)... the roads are tight, narrow, and it's tricky to make some of the turns with a 42 ft 5th wheel. The playgrounds are showing their age with some rust. We all got quite a few bites on our legs one evening when we were out with shorts on. The weather was warm but we regret not spraying or wearing pants. Finally, they change the code every Tuesday morning. Don't try calling. Nobody answers. Just go into the office. All very minor complaints. Overall we loved this park.

Not A Traveler Friendly Park

This is more like a campground in the jungle. Very lacking in what you go to an RV Park for. Sites are sand/coral, are not very level and have very little, if any, view. The reservation system is a joke. Good luck trying to get hold of someone who can help you. IMHO the park(owned/operated) by the City of Jacksonville is not traveler friendly. You need to be a resident and have access to a computer in order to make a reservation(unless you are lucky enough to reach a "live" person) and then they try to have you use a computer. Not at all a user friendly system. Restrooms/showers were basically clean but very outdated. They neglected to tell us about the gate code change and we had a problem with it that required a "Camp Host" to resolve. There is a "basic needs" store onsite but it is very expensive. $5.50 for a half gallon of(one month out of date) milk!!! Unless you are into short/long term isolation, I don't recommend this park. We stay at Hanna park for 11 nights. We loved the old Florida, the trees where beautiful. The campground hosts go out there to help you. We did not used the rest rooms. The only negative was trying to make reservations it was very trying. We stay here again.

Its OK

Good to squeeze into with our lil camper. Our site was secluded and NOT level, but that was no prob. The city makes it hard to get hold of anybody to talk to. They would not give us the gate code over the phone wanting us to be there (they close at 9 pm) to get it or get locked out. We got delayed in our trip and left later than expected and tried to call them. They like to hide behind their phone system and you have to send an email request in to get them to call you. We did arrive in time, but we will NOT be back. We like the park, beach, splash pad, playground. But contacting them is just unreasonable. Stayed May 2017

Best Of All Worlds

Level, shaded site, small but private. Very nice guests and staff. Walk to beach, trails, mountain biking, lake. Tight turns, narrow roads. Be careful. Wonderful beach camping in a park with lots of amenities.

Need Reservations

I keep calling the number for the campground but can't get an answer. Does anyone know how to reach someone at the campground.

Spring Break Trip

We just got back from a spring break trip. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. We had a pull through site for our 37 ft TT with full connections we paid $170 total for 5 nights. It's not a high end RV resort but it was great for our BIG family. The restrooms are dated, but were carry a bottle of bleach spray with us everywhere we go anyway so spray the shower down or take a shower in your camper. The beach is big and open but is a long walk. I would suggest having bikes or driving. Even though it's in a big city it felt very secure. We will definitely be back!

Overall Great

As long as you don't need to use the bathrooms. The mountain biking trails are top notch. Campground sites can be tight and not private. The beach is huge and your pets are allowed. It would be the best ever if 1/8 of the sites are merged into one larger site and bathrooms are corrected. I would pay more to camp there.

We have been coming here for a couple weeks the last four winters. Price is right but showers and bathrooms are terrible. Be willing to pay a little more if showers were torn down and replaced.

Nice Park Needs New Showers

Overall the park is great. Walking distance to ocean, for tent camping you have water, electricity, sewer. Fire pit and table fir each site. The only downside are the showers and toilet area. Showers need remodeling.

Nice park, a little older accommodations but they all worked. It's a little tight for our 35' toy hauler but quite, and close to the beach. Bring plenty of leveling blocks and pick a spot way larger than your rig. We picked out a 35' spot and had to move up to a pull through.

Great Place!

This campground is fantastic! Only$33 in June. Surroundings feel like a jungle with all of the flora, but you're just a 2 min walk from a life-guarded beach. They also have a lake and water park, plus bike paths. We were going to just stay overnight, but stayed 3 nights instead. We highly recommend this campground!

Nice Park

Great park! A little tight for big rigs but beautiful. The only problem I had was with making the reservation. I called and talked to them and told them I was almost 50ft long. He reserved a spot for me and when I got there I could barely fit down the road where the spot was. And the spot was made for 35ft or less! Had a couple of the camp hosts help me out and take care of finding me a new spot. By the way, the hosts are great! All in all was a good experience and had fun.

Need Remodeling A Lot Repairs

Please is nice place but need a lot repair,they need reopen cafeteria ,clean the bathroom with good cleaner company ,change light bulb at street,

Needs some TLC. $30 for full hookups. 1&1/2 mile ocean front. Won't come back until they fix things up a bit.
