Lovely Place But Watch Which Road
This is a fantastic campground, especially the new section, with magnificent views. But a word of warning on directions. We left Divide & our GPS routed us through Cripple Creek. We wish we had just taken the interstate to Canon City instead. The road is gorgeous from Cripple Creek - a scenic byway in fact. But it is barely 1 lane wide and slick clay (it was raining, of course) and clings to the side of cliffs wiith thousands of feet drop off. I read multiple reviews of the campground & none mentioned the road which is why I'm focusing on it. Do NOT attempt coming from Cripple Creek in anything larger than a van. My RV is a 22 ft Spriinter and we tow a small Honda. After 90 minutes we came to a sign "no vehicles over 25 feet beyond this point." If we'd been in a larger vehicle we would have had to return to Cripple Creek. From that point there is NO turnaround & sheer dropoffs & no guardrail. We unhooked & drove both separately but met a car on a cliff with no room to pass. Terrifying!

Hidden Gem
We had checked this campground out before bringing our 33ft 5th wheel up. The trick is to use the sites in the new loop and to enter the road through loop B (on the right side) after turning around near the day use area. The most sites from B25 on are good for bigger rigs. Some are back in and a few are big pull thru sites too. Important: max size is probably 30- 35ft up here due to the turns you have to make to get to the campsites. A loop (on the left right by the camp host site) is great for vans and tent (tent pads). Anything longer I would suggest to use Loop B (right before the day use area on the right by the brand new yellow cattle guard). There are 3 vault toilets. The campground and sites are all gravel. The sites are separated nicely by pine and juniper brush. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit. No water, no power, no dump station, no trash cans. We used an Inter agency access pass (same benefits usually as the inter agency senior pass) to pay $3.50 per night.

New Expansion 21 New Sites
In September the BLM opened a 21 site Expansion to the Bank Campground. The Expansion includes a new B loop with 4 pull-throughs that can accommodate larger RVs and 18 easy back in sites that can easily up to 30' trailers. Three new vault toilets were added and a second Group Site. The Bank offers recreational opportunities for Rock Climbers, OHV, Equestrian and hikers. It's only 40 min from Cripple Creek and 30 min from Canon City. There isn't any water so be sure to bring what you need.
