Great Camp Off Season
We prefer this camp to others in the area, but it can be full. A fallback option is the Verde Valley Faigrounds. Other options are 2 dispersed camping areas near Flagstaff.

Plenty To Do
If you like hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching, or even checking out the local attractions like Sedona/Cornville this will work for you. Facilities and the staff are good. Spacing between campsites are reasonable for enjoyment. You do have to watch for Goatheads for your pets as well, not to drag into your own place.

A Beatiful Place To Stay
Stayed at Coopers Hawk which was lovely, nice hiking and biking trails close by, lots of room between sites and the views are beautiful. Heard you can walk to town but a bit far (& all uphill on your return) from Coopers sites. Quail Loop seems to be a better spot to stay in if looking for walkability to town. A very beautiful, relaxing, clean, quiet place to spend a night or two (or more!). Would recommend for sure! *we did have skunks come right into our site both nights while we sat outside. Cleared all food items and had rocks to toss in their vicinity (not AT them!!) and seemed to work but just an FYI (we do camp in their home)!!

Thumbs Up
Another AZ state campground hits the mark. Preferred the Coopers Hawk loop for the elevated views and easy maneuvering for a larger rig. Very attentive and friendly staff and volunteers. Easy access to town amenities and area attractions -- perfect jumping off point that also feels like camping. Very much enjoy the space offered by state parks versus the more traditionally cramped private parks. Firewood for sale in the park, horseback rides in the park, and top it off with a very easy to use reservation system -- state parks are hard to beat. Have to travel within the park to dump, but no big deal to do that. 14 day limit seems to go by so fast!

Great Location
We like the proximity this park has to Sedona & surrounding areas. While the bathrooms are aged, the hosts keep them clean. VZ no-G to 4G, 1-4 bars. Plenty of OTA TV.

Enjoyed This State Park
We have stayed several times in Quail loop campground. Love the shade, only draw back is some of the trees need to be trimmed so they don't scrape the taller RV'S.

A little closer to town than I expected, which comes with road noise. That being said, it’s a good distance to Sedona and a large, well maintained park. I’d go again.

Keep Coming Back
My family and I will continue to return to this park. Nothing bad to say about it. We have a 40ft Bluebird bus conversation with a car in tow. We stayed in Red tail Hawk loop and had no issue with parking or maneuvering. Level sites, clean facilities, helpful staff and they will leave you to yourself unless you ask for help. Horse back riding available and very pleasent. The price is great for only being 20min from Sedona. Cottonwood is a nice town with some nice parks and library for kids.

I have been coming to this campground for 5 years. It has good power and water hookups. A good dump station and the showers are always clean. They have horseback riding, fishing, hiking, bike riding all to whom wish to enjoy. We go into cottonwood for wine tasting and good dinning. This is a great place to stay for a week, just no sewer hookups. Lots of things to keep you entertained and relaxed.

Nice!
Roomy sites, clean bathroom. Our site had a great view of the city. Sunshine was harsh in the daytime, but the night view made it worthwhile!

Nice Park
Stayed here Oct 25 thru 29, 2017. Cost $30 per night. We stayed in Red-Tail Hawk Loop so my review is for that Loop. Sites were paved and level. About 20 yards between most sites. Clean restrooms and showers. Nice dumpsite near entrance. Verizon 4G with three bars. Walmart Super Center located in Cottonwood. We did drive thru Blackhawk Loop and most of the sites were pull thru's and this is were most of the big rigs were parked. We also drove thru Quail Loop and it seemed to have tighter turns with more trees and shorter sites. We would stay at Dead Horse Ranch State Park again.

Great Spot For exploring
The park can be very crowded and noisy. Sites are level. Facilities good. Access to water when it’s flowing. Hiking. Nearby attractions in Clarkdale, Prescott, Jerome, and Sedona can keep you away from site for hours. The town of Cottonwood is fun to explore for eats and arts. One of our favorite stops when headed to Northern AZ and CA.

Not Bad
Stayed three nights. Only had an incident the first night with a woman obviously high on something came knocking on our door looking for a dog which was right beside her. She actually tried to open the door, thankfully it was locked! After the second try we called 911. Other than that, it was quiet, clean and plenty of walking trails, horses could be rented for a leisurely ride or if you choose, you can ride your bikes.

Off Season Is Just Awful
200 for the week and my neighbor isn't total trash. 2 large dogs barking all the time, caged up in a pick up truck. Trailer full of who knows what?! Paths need serious weeding. Bird watching is nonexistent since nobody fills feeders. Zero standards upheld by rangers.

Stayed overnight/tent camping with two other riders, in July, 2015. Very nice campsites with picnic table, fire-ring, and paved parking for m/c. Super-clean restrooms and TILED showers. Plus the sceanery was tops. Will stay again on X-country ride this year
