Great Place For Hiking
There are many great hiking trails from easy to difficult. A nice disc golf course and a Fifteen minute drive to downtown Huntsville. We will be back!

Great Camping
We were here for six nights. We had water and electric only. The premium sites have full hook ups. We enjoyed our time here and we will camp here again if we return to this area.

Could Have Been Awesome
We had to cross a significant ditch to get in our site, dragged our bumper and jacks.... Built a makeshift bridge to get out (site 21). Otherwise pretty views and awesome hikes. Would definitely like to go back.

Beautiful State Park
Wonderful quiet campground with lots of space between sites. Great walking trails and mountain scenery. Be careful don’t follow the GPS it can lead you up the wrong way. Governors Dr to Monte Sano is the only route especially if you are in a class A. Also no 50 AMP service but ok for early April no need for AC.

No 50 amp
One reviewer states that they had a 50 amp site. That’s not true. They have no 50 amp sites.

We stayed here over spring break for three nights. It was a very quiet park with lots to do. GPS took us up the narrow winding road but can go in on Governors Boulevard. Water and electric hookups but only a dump station for sewer. Not sure why they put us at the end of the park by ourselves and away from the bath house because closer sites were open for the whole stay including full hookup sites. Very nice campground host and even checked us in after park hours. We would visit again but reserve a full hookup beforehand.

Nice park
We visited Monte Sano for the first time recently. The park was nice and there were plenty of things to do, either there or nearby. The bathhouses were clean and the staff that we had interaction with seemed friendly. My hope is that now that our state can no longer steal the State Park's funds, to go towards the general fund, that parks like this one can update or renovate their facilities. For the most part, the park in general was well maintained. The campsite, in my opinion could use a little attention though. We had a great time and will return.

We came here to meet friends for a long camping weekend that was convenient to visit the space center. We had buddy sites with full hookups and 50 amp electric service. Sites were spacious, level and separated by trees & shrubs so there was reasonable privacy. The road coming in from the main highway is no problem if you know where you are going. A few minutes with MapQuest or Google Earth is wise advance preparation. We enjoyed Monte Sano enough to bring our Good Sam camping club over from the Atlanta area for a rally several months later.

November 2016
Selected this state park from the "RV Parks" app and were thrilled with our stay. On top of an Alabama mountain with a great view, biking and hiking trails, sites are relatively flat and level with gravel, picnic tables, fire rings and plenty of space "in the woods". Quiet, peaceful and camping neighbors were courteous of other campers and hours.
We highly recommended this for over night or extended stay. Stay on hwy. 565 for best drive in and out...otherwise the road in is a winding uphill climb. Both drives beautiful.

Beautiful in April. Dogwoods blooming but lots of poison ivy. Great spots. We had a pull through. Only downside was the road in through narrow residential up the mountain. Good spot to stay awhile.

Beautiful state Park
Great, wooded campsites with decent separation. Air conditioned bath houses. Only downside is that it is on the top of a small mountain making it somewhat of a drive to get groceries. Not a good overnight stop but a great place for extended camping.
